Kent Training & Apprenticeships are part of Community Learning and Skills (which is part of Kent County Council) and have been supporting people to gain qualifications and develop skills for over 30 years. Working with large and small organisations across Kent, we offer high quality accredited and bespoke training.

Community Learning and Skills are recognised as a 'Good' provider by Ofsted.

We can help in lots of ways - getting your interview skills up to scratch, improving your English or Maths, achieving occupational qualifications or, if you're ready, the chance of an Apprenticeship with one of hundreds of employers in Kent.

How do I enrol?

Apprenticeships

Applications for Apprenticeships are made through the employer, once you have found a vacancy you are interested in you should apply through the online application system. We will then liase with the employer who will offer an interview should you meet their entry requirements.

Successful applicants will be allocated a tutor and a mentor at work who will support you through your Apprenticeship, starting with an initial assessment. They will discuss with you your reasons for undertaking a course and what you want to achieve.

Your tutor can provide impartial information and advice to help you make the right decision about what to do next.

Study Programmes

You may be required to complete an initial assessment or interview prior to joining your course. We will discuss with you your reasons for undertaking a course and what you want to achieve.

You can enrol on a course in person in our centres or by calling us on 0800 731 4297. One of our Engagement and Progression Officers will contact you to arrange an initial meeting to discuss the best options for you and can provide impartial information and advice to help you make the right decision about what to do next.

How will I be supported?

Apprenticeships

You will be asked to complete a variety of tasks including a learner induction and skills scan to enable the tutor to work with both yourself and your employer to create your Individual Training Plan (ITP). You will meet regularly with your tutor and employer throughout your Apprenticeship to discuss your individual goals, provide feedback on your progress, review and discuss your targets and talk about your next steps.

We can also provide additional support and welfare, where required; for example, resources and equipment, accessibility support, mentoring support.

Study Programmes

As part of your course, you will complete an initial assessment to identify your strengths and what your tutor needs to support you with. At the start of the course, you will attend a learner induction which will explain the course contents. Your tutor will support you throughout your course. They will discuss your individual goals in your Individual Learning Plan (ILP), provide feedback on your progress, review and discuss your targets and your next steps. You will have access to resources and online learning platforms where required. We can also provide additional support and welfare, where required; for example, the possibility of financial support e.g. with your travel costs, resources from the 16-19 Bursary fund (subject to status)

Completing your course and exam

Apprenticeships

To achieve the Apprenticeship, you will be required to complete an End Point Assessment, which allows you to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviours that you have developed. You will receive a certificate confirming your achievements which you will be able to use to demonstrate your competence in your chosen sector.

Study Programmes

You may be required to complete exams and this will be discussed at interview stage. You will be provided with any access arrangements if needed for your exams which will be discussed with your tutor.
