Westerham Day Nursery is a long-standing, all-day childcare facility that provides support to families and nurtures the development and early education of children aged 4 months to 4 years. Its facilities include three age-specific rooms, a spacious outdoor area, and a dedicated forest school zone.

Travel information:

There are bus services that run from Oxted, Sevenoaks and Bromley to Westerham. The nursery is within walking distance from the bus stop.

Description of Vacancy

Westerham Day Nursery is searching of a Level 3 apprentice to collaborate with its established team, focusing on the development of either 2-3 year olds or 3-4 year olds. Having some existing experience of working within a nursery setting already, you’ll play a pivotal role in the children’s growth and learning. Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll work towards obtaining the advanced qualifications while benefiting from the expertise and support of experienced staff.

  • Work with an established team for 2-3 year olds or 3-4 years olds.
  • Develop into the role of a key worker in nurturing children’s development.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate learning activities.
  • Foster child development and education following the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the upkeep of learning environments.
  • Apply knowledge of child development and early education theories.
  • Document and track children’s progress and development.
  • Continuously improve teaching practices through training and guidance.
  • Contribute to creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment.

Wage

£240 per week.

If you already have a level 2 Early Years qualification, you would be eligible for a level 2 rate of pay.

Hours

Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm or 9am - 6pm

1 hour unpaid lunch
20% paid time during working hours is given to complete training, referred to as "Off the Job Training"

Would consider someone for 4 days a week if this is more suitable.

Training Provided

On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Standard - Early Years Educators, and other job roles such as nursery nurse and childminders, are highly trained professionals who play a key role in ensuring that young children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. They work in a range of settings including full day care, children’s centres, pre-schools, reception classes and as childminders. They may either be working on their own or supervising others to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirements set by Government for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old.

Regular work-based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.

Additional Detail

As of 1st April 2024, the NMW for Apprentices is £6.40 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.

Important Information

Therefore, you must have the means to get to your place of work on a daily basis whilst waiting for your first wages to be paid.
